The iconic Burj Al Arab hotel, an architectural icon of Dubai, has announced it will temporarily close for approximately eighteen months as part of a major renovation program aimed at preserving its status and modernizing its interior spaces.

Jumeirah Group emphasizes that this is a carefully planned restoration that will preserve the building's unique appearance and enhance service levels. However, according to several sources, regional events could also have influenced the closure timing.

It was previously reported that drone attacks were recorded in the Dubai area amid the escalating tensions in the Middle East. Specifically, in late February, debris from one drone caused a fire in part of the hotel's façade. The incident was quickly contained, but it prompted further consideration of the facility's future operations.

According to UAE military officials, air defense systems intercepted dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones that day, indicating high tensions in the region. Despite the temporary closure, the Burj Al Arab will retain its significance: once all work is completed, it will reopen to guests, maintaining its reputation as one of the most recognizable hotels in the world.
