Tbilisi is the capital and one of the best cities to visit in Georgia! Tbilisi lies on the banks of the Mtkvari River (also known as the Kura) and is surrounded by hills and mountains. It has been the capital of Georgia since the 6th century, and its varied architecture reflects its long and complex history.

One of the best ways to appreciate this unique place is to wander its streets, especially in the colorful Old Town. Be sure to walk (or take the cable car) to the Narikala Fortress, where you can enjoy a stunning panorama of the city.Amazing and Unique Places to Visit in Georgia

  1. Mtskheta

Mtskheta is the religious capital, spiritual heart and therefore the most important city of Georgia. It is also one of the oldest cities in Georgia, where 4000-year-old traces of human settlements have been found. Mtskheta is home to three of Georgia's most important churches: Svetitskhoveli, Jvari and Samtavro.

Saint Nino lived in this city. She is known as the Enlightener of Georgia, and is one of the most important saints in this country (many girls are named after her).

  1. Vardzia

Vardzia is a spectacular cave monastery near Aspindza in southern Georgia. This underground monastery was built in the 12th century under the rule of King Tamar, the first woman to be crowned king (not queen!) in Georgian history. It was previously completely hidden until a major earthquake exposed and destroyed the cave monastery.Amazing and Unique Places to Visit in Georgia
