Jellyfish have been spotted near the popular resort of Phuket, prompting vacationers to exercise caution when swimming. A cluster of the marine organisms was spotted near Siam Bay near Koh Racha Yai Island: experts estimate that 20 to 30 specimens were near the surface, some of which later washed ashore.

Aurelia jellyfish

According to marine authorities, the jellyfish in question are members of the Aurelia species, known as "moon jellyfish." They are regularly found in the region's waters and are not considered life-threatening to humans, but touching them can cause discomfort. Possible reactions include skin redness, itching, and mild irritation, especially in people with sensitivity to such substances.

Following information received from area officials, an official warning was issued. Tourists are urged to avoid contact with jellyfish and carefully inspect the water before entering the sea.

If you come into contact with a jellyfish and experience any unpleasant symptoms, it is recommended to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Coastal monitoring continues, and vacationers are advised to follow basic safety precautions to avoid unexpected problems ruining their vacation.
