The Crimean Peninsula is one of the most beautiful corners of Europe. The area offers tourists a warm sea, fantastic landscapes, lush nature, and numerous monuments. Here you can find ancient ruins, medieval fortresses, monasteries, Tatar mosques, and impressive rock cities. It's best to visit Crimea before June, when preparations for the season are just beginning, and in most places, prices are still at winter levels. High season is the end of July and three weeks of August. In good weather, the last days of August and September can also be attractive, when prices drop and the beaches are empty. The sea water is still warm, and fresh fruits are also in season: figs, watermelons, grapes, peaches, and melons. Take your pick. Vacation in the Crimea, taking into account personal preferences regarding season and cost.Holidays in Crimea: features of the tourist regionThe peninsula's climate is determined primarily by the sea and mountains. Winters are mild, and summers are hot. Spring weather is often unpredictable, while autumn is typically long and beautiful. Sunlight is an added bonus. The peninsula is also Ukraine's main wine-producing region. Wines with a sweet, velvety taste mature in the cellars of Massandra or the Sunny Valley, where wines from all over the world mature.

The peninsula can be divided into four main areas:

  • Black Sea Plain
  • Black Sea Mountains
  • the south coast of Crimea
  • Kerch Peninsula

A variety of landscapes characterize the region. In the south, nearly a third of the peninsula is covered by the picturesque Crimean Mountains, which form impressive cliffs along the coast. They boast a beautiful, rich, and varied landscape, in places typical of the Mediterranean coast. The Crimean Mountains consist of three bands, approximately 160 kilometers long and 60 kilometers wide. Although they do not reach an altitude of more than 1600 meters above sea level, their location near the coast makes them appear much higher. Nevertheless, the Crimean coastline is picturesque from the mountains. The resorts here are renowned for their pristine beaches, and steep cliffs rise above them, creating exceptionally breathtaking scenery. The most popular tourist destination is the extremely fashionable Yalta. It was here, in 1945, in the Potocki Palace, that Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchill decided the fate of Europe.Holidays in Crimea: features of the tourist regionOne of the symbols of Crimea is located in the town of Gaspra, on the high rocky cape of Ai-Todor, in a neo-Gothic castle known as "Swallow's Nest." It was commissioned by the German Baron von Steingel in 1912 and designed by the Russian architect Leonid Sherwood. Other important monuments and landmarks in Crimea include:

  • Genoese fortress in Sudak
  • Count Vorontsov's Palace in Alupka
  • The Tsar's Palace in Livadia
  • Palace of the Crimean Khan

Chufut-Kale is one of the best-preserved and most famous rock cities on the peninsula. The peninsula's main cities are Simferopol, Sevastopol, and Bakhchisaray (the former Tatar capital of Crimea).
