Brighton Beach is a world-famous Brooklyn borough of New York City, popularly called Little Odessa. And for good reason, since it is considered a favorite place for immigrants from the post-Soviet space. It occupies an area of 1165 km², inhabited by about 35547 people, most of whom are former residents of Russia, Ukraine and other Eastern European countries. The closest neighbor of Manhattan.
History
The American Brighton Beach (Brighton, New York, USA), according to the idea of its creators (William Engeman), was to become a small but respectable resort on the Atlantic coast. It was for this reason that it was named "Brighton Beach", similar to the popular British resort town of Brighton. A fashionable hotel was immediately built on the territory of the area and a railroad was laid, which would later become a branch of the New York subway. However, then the "Great Depression" (twenties of the twentieth century) sets in in America, which postpones the implementation of Brighton Beach construction projects for many years. Its territory falls into disrepair, and from the beginning of the 70s it is actively filled with a stream of immigrants, which leads the abandoned town to revival and worldwide fame.
Features of a holiday in Brighton Beach
The multinational residents of Brighton Beach have transformed what was once a dysfunctional "social space" into a colorful mini-state, which today enjoys great "demand" among tourists and is considered one of the main attractions of the "Big Apple". There is always a lively and "energetic" atmosphere, a mix of high-rise residential buildings and especially cozy "food service" establishments (cafes, restaurants and restaurants, night clubs) with original names ("Tatiana", "Winter Garden", "Volna") and cuisine of different nations. Nearby is everything you need for shopping - food markets, many shops ("U Peti za ugol", "U Teshchi", "Mekha", "Stolichny" and so on).
For cultural leisure, there is the Millennium Ballet Theatre (Russian Choreography Center), Luna Park, New York Aquarium (Coney Island). Walking along the wooden Boardwalk will allow you to fully enjoy the originality of the local population. The Atlantic coast with golden sand and a fairly shallow coastline will provide tourists with a comfortable beach holiday.
