During archaeological excavations in the Turkish province of Adana (south of the country), a huge mosaic was discovered containing quotes from the Bible in Greek and stylized images of animals.
dimensions ancient mosaic are striking - the total area is about 120 square meters with a length of 15 and a width of 8 meters. The mosaic contains a perfectly preserved quote from the prophet Isaiah from the Bible: "The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food: they will not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain, says the Lord."
The mosaic contains images of sixteen wild and domestic animals – sheep, lion, bull, wolf, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, deer, etc.
The unique mosaic was discovered by archaeologists as part of a search for exhibits for new museum, which is currently still under construction. As stated by the head of the Ila (provincial) Department of Culture and Tourism Adana Mr. Sabri Tari, excavations are being carried out simultaneously in 15 places across the administrative region and the discovery of a well-preserved mosaic is a great success.
