The authoritative British publication The Telegraph has published its own rating of the attractiveness of cities around the world for gastronomic tourism. After a comprehensive assessment of the diversity of national dishes available to tourists, the abundance of restaurants and cafes, the level of service and other factors, 16 cities located in Asia, America and Europe were selected.
Tokyo was named the best city for gastronomic tourism. The Telegraph rightly noted that the Japanese capital boasts the largest number of restaurants awarded Michelin stars – the highest award in the restaurant business.
In second place is Vietnamese Hanoi. It tempted experts with an incredible combination of spicy, sweet, salty and sour dishes, available to tourists right on the street in almost any point of the city. Moreover, all Vietnamese delicacies are very, very affordable, which cannot be said about European restaurants.
London took the honorable third place. The experts (especially since they are British) could not help but note the incredible number of restaurants, bars, cafes, and eateries that densely cover the entire British capital – from the center to the outlying suburbs. The legendary Artesian bar also made its contribution, taking the leading position in the World's 50 Best Bars rating for the fourth time in a row this year.
