The DPRK is closing its borders to foreign tourists from Friday, October 24. This information became known from reports from tour operators working closely with North Korea, who received the corresponding notification from the DPRK authorities.

The official reason for the ban on tourist visits to the DPRK is the threat of people infected with the Ebola hemorrhagic fever virus, which has claimed thousands of lives this year, entering the country. However, it is worth noting that North Korea has banned entry not only to guests from African countries where the Ebola virus is rampant, but to all foreign tourists without exception.

Meanwhile, the right to cross the state border of the DPRK will remain for foreigners visiting the country on business and work visits, at the invitation of government agencies, etc. However, sanitary control over arriving foreigners will be tightened at all international airports, regardless of which country they arrived from.

According to representatives of one of the leading North Korean tour companies, Koryo Tours, the DPRK authorities have not yet specified the duration of the ban on entry of tourists.
