A large brown bear, fed by tourists who regularly vacation in the Nalychevo Valley in Kamchatka, was shot by rangers the day before because it began to pose a threat to humans, the press service of the Volcanoes of Kamchatka Nature Park reported on Friday.
It is reported that the young female bear, recently separated from her mother who was caring for her, has become a regular at tourist camps near the Zheltaya River. Vacationers, some by accident, some on purpose, have fed her dangerous predator leftover food.
Recently, there have been reports that the bear has begun to behave aggressively, no longer waiting for food left for it, but has begun to actively search for food on its own, often during daylight hours. The last straw was the animal's destruction of several tents.
"The bear, fed by the tourists themselves, actively visited the visitors' resting places. Upon returning to the camp, several tourists discovered that their tents were completely torn apart", — the press service of the natural park said in a statement.
