Saint Petersburg has won the most prestigious award in the field of tourism – the World Travel Awards, awarded based on the results of voting by both tourism industry experts and ordinary travelers. The Russian Northern capital was recognized as the best tourist destination in Europe in 2015.
As the authoritative publication “Business Insider” writes, the first of the sights of St. Petersburg that you simply must visit every tourist, is the legendary Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, erected on the site of the fatal assassination attempt on the Russian Emperor Alexander II in 1881.
The second place in the obligatory excursion program of a tourist in St. Petersburg, according to Business Insider, is the Winter Palace, where most of the Hermitage exposition is located.
