A tourist train will run between Austria and Iran

On Friday, September 11, an agreement was signed in Tehran between the Iranian Railways Company, the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization and three Austrian companies to launch a tourist train that will run between the countries.

The head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, Mr. Masoud Soltanifar, told reporters that the first train is expected to depart from Austria to Iran in the next six months.

According to Soltanifar, the signing of the relevant agreement with the Austrian side was the right step towards increasing Iran's tourist attractiveness for guests from Europe. It should be noted that the long-term program for the development of Iran's tourism sector is designed to increase the volume of incoming tourist traffic to the country from 5 to 20 million people per year. The program is already being implemented, it is designed for 20 years - from 2005 to 2025.

Let us add that the organization tourist railway routes is already being practiced by Iran. Thus, last year, as an experiment, a train was launched on the route Hungary – Romania – Bulgaria – Turkey - Iran.
