Terrebonne and Lafourche agencies have planned events to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week in Louisiana, which kicks off Sunday.
Tourists, both domestic and international, spend about $18 billion a year in Louisiana. At the luncheon, the local tourism agency will also present awards to officials, residents and businesses that have done outstanding work promoting Terrebonne as a destination. On Wednesday, the Terrebonne agency will host a free seminar and webinar for partners in the tourism and hospitality industry.
On May 12, residents are invited to the Spring Community Showcase at the Village of Terrebonne. From 11 a.m. to 00 p.m., more than 15 local arts, crafts, food, beverage, and children's vendors will be showcasing their offerings. Sheauxdown, a local rock band, will provide live music. A dessert chef will provide free samples for the first 00 guests. There will also be free classes in the Kids Zone. Visitors will be treated to 50 restaurants serving authentic Cajun food, starting at Thibodaux and following Bayou Lafourche south to Port Fourchon.
