The cult fantasy series Game of Thrones has won millions of fans worldwide. In this fictional world, zombies and fire-breathing dragons clash with the characters of a live-action show. Recently, Game of Thrones fans participated in a four-day, nonstop marathon to watch all seven seasons, comprising 7 episodes.
A marathon viewing of the hit series began Monday evening at London's Prince Charles Cinema and concluded Thursday evening. It was held to celebrate the series' upcoming DVD release on December 11.
"Being able to watch the entire series without interruption gives viewers a different experience than waiting for the next season. People don't get frustrated by the agonizing wait," said actress Hannah Waddingham, who plays the ill-fated Unella in the series. The actress attended the first night of the screening.
Around 350 people attended the four-day event, while only seven fans made it from start to finish. One participant described the marathon as an "endurance race." Attentive organizers distributed survival kits, including wipes, alcohol gel, and dental supplies.
Game of Thrones tells the story of warring factions, dragons, and zombies, set in a medieval fantasy world where winter lasts for years. The series has received critical acclaim and a huge international following over its seven seasons and 67 episodes. The eighth and final episode is expected to premiere in late 2018 or 2019, although no official release date has been confirmed.
