The peculiar hair of the real President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, is often compared to various objects and animals. But this time, the appearance of a butterfly discovered by a Canadian scientist was so reminiscent of the hairstyle of the head of the US government that it was named after him.
The small moth with a yellow-white growth on its head was named Neopalpa donaldtrumpi. The insect can be seen in the photo presented by the biologist who discovered it, Nazari.
The attractive looking insect was named after Donald Trump, who was previously a reality TV show participant and is now also a tycoon of a huge empire.
The new species, named Neopalpa donaldtrumpi, lives in an area that is located in Southern California and Mexico. The insect was discovered by evolutionary biologist from Canada Vazrik Nazari. The mole was first mentioned in an article written in the science journal ZooKeys.
The moth is easily recognizable, as it can be distinguished by the yellow-white scales on the top of the head of adult individuals, which are easily visible in the photo provided.
"The moth's name was chosen because the growths on its forehead resemble Mr. Trump's hair," Nazari wrote in a recent article.
"The reason for this choice of name is to draw greater public attention to the need to continue to protect the fragile U.S. environment, as many insects are still in danger," he added.
Trump would not be the first president to have an animal named after him. Just a few months ago, a fish native to the coral reefs of northwestern Hawaii was named after former President Barack Obama. The former president was an environmentalist in the United States and around the world, particularly concerned with protecting fish habitats.
