The eruption of Japan's largest volcano, Aso, which began on the morning of Wednesday, November 26, has become a threat to local residents and numerous tourists on the island of Kyushu, Japanese media report.

eruption of Mount Aso

Let us recall that the eruption of the largest volcano on the Japanese islands, Aso, which is 1592 meters high, which began yesterday morning, quickly exceeded the threshold of acceptable danger, which required immediate intervention by the authorities.

The island's authorities have ordered all citizens and foreign tourists to leave the eruption zone at a distance exceeding 1 kilometer. Since midday on Wednesday, November 26, regular low-intensity tremors have been observed in the area of the Aso volcano, accompanied by emissions of hot ash. The height of the ash column has exceeded 1.5 kilometers, and the radius of its settling on the earth's surface is, according to preliminary data, about 40 kilometers.

It is worth noting that the precautions taken by the Japanese authorities are not excessive. For example, the eruption of another volcano Ontake (much smaller than Aso), which occurred in Japan last month, took the lives of more than 60 people who died as a result of a "rain" of molten rock and gas poisoning.
