A 60-year-old French citizen tried to smuggle his Russian wife across the state border between Belarus and Poland, hiding her in a suitcase. Polish border guards discovered the woman hiding in his hand luggage during a baggage inspection of passengers on the Moscow-Nice international train.

During border control of an international train traveling from Moscow to Nice, police officers discovered a Russian woman hidden in the suitcase of a French citizen. The woman turned out to be the wife of the owner of the luggage. The couple wanted to illegally enter into the territory of the European Union.

The incident occurred at the Brest-Terespol border station. The Frenchman's Russian wife was feeling fine when she got out of the suitcase. She did not require medical assistance. The Russian woman was unable to apply for a Schengen visa for a number of reasons. But I really wanted to go on a trip with my husband.

According to Le Figaro, the couple faces up to three years in prison for attempting to illegally enter the EU. However, it is specified that after their arrest they were released and returned to Belarus.
