The press service of the regional branch of the Russian Ministry of Health for the Sverdlovsk region reported four confirmed cases of infection of residents of the region who were on vacation in Asian countries with dengue fever.
According to the report, the infection of Sverdlovsk tourists with dengue fever occurred in the period September-November 2014. Two people were infected in Thailand, one case was recorded in tourists who visited Vietnam and the Philippines.
It should be noted that infection with Dengue fever usually occurs through a mosquito bite. The characteristic symptoms of the disease are muscle pain, chills, fever, sore throat, rashes on the body, and intoxication of the body.
Let us recall that at the end of November Rospotrebnadzor has issued an official warning for residents of Yekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk region about the high probability of contracting Dengue fever in Asian and African countries. The Kingdom of Thailand and China were noted as some of the most unfavorable tourist destinations for this disease, where cases of Dengue infection in 2014 were recorded in 23 out of 34 provinces.
