Türkiye is famous not only for its beaches, hotels and warm sea, but also for its mystical, mysterious and even slightly terrifying places.
At the very beginning, it is worth mentioning the city of Cappadocia, but it is not it that frightens many, but the temple erected in part of the god Apollo - a huge structure erected many centuries ago. The temple itself is surrounded by majestic columns, but many tourists are frightened by the stone head of the Gorgon Medusa - many simply bypass it once again, because it is so realistic that it seems that it can turn a person into stone.
No less interesting, frightening place is the underground city of Derinkuyu - so we are talking about a city carved out of caves, catacombs, which for many centuries served as a refuge for ancient people. The name itself - Derinkuyu in Turkish means "deep well", but those who gave them such a name did not think that such wells have an exit to the top and are located throughout the territory of the above-ground part of the city and act as natural ventilation shafts.
No less mystical place in Turkey is Gobekli-Tepe or Pot-bellied Mountain - in the territory of the desert region lost to many, in the south-east of the country, in the region known as Northern Mesopotamia, this mountain range rises above all. Having carried out excavations, scientists managed to establish that this is an ancient temple buried under a layer of sand, with many ancient columns and temple premises. Much of the territory has not yet been studied and it is quite possible that this place will give many discoveries, mystical and fascinating.
The silent heads of Nemrut Dag are mute evidence that ancient people came into contact with aliens. Otherwise, how can one explain the incredible discovery located in the southeast of Turkey, near Gobekli Tepe, in the Taurus Mountains. It was here, at the very top of Nemrut Dag, that archaeologists found a mysterious and mystical memorial complex dedicated to the king of Commagene, Antiochus I Theos.
The complex itself consists not only of a burial mound and a platform, but is also surrounded by magnificent terraces, on which statues once stood majestically, the height of which reached almost 9 meters. The majestic figures depicted not only the king, but also 2 lions, eagles and deities of the Greek pantheon, as well as Armenian and Iranian gods. But time has not spared the ancient, majestic statues of deities - today, against the backdrop of the temple complex and the heavenly heights, giant heads lie, as if they were cut off, next to the figures, which are frozen in a sitting pose.
