Different beaches are needed, different beaches are important!
It is difficult to dispute the above improvised expression, because really, any type of beach has both ardent fans and irreconcilable opponents. Some people like small pebbles, others advocate shell rock, and still others are crazy about stone terraces descending into the water (apparently, because the water is absolutely unclouded). But whatever one may say, the vast majority prefers sandy beaches. It is understandable, although the water gets cloudy quite quickly from sand, but the sensation of soft grains of sand touching the body is much more pleasant than from not very soft pebble "pellets". And of course, children cannot build a decent castle out of pebbles...
Are there any sandy beaches in Turkey?
Of course there are! But don't get your hopes up too much - there are no such divine beaches as, say, on tropical islandsUnderwater Hotel in the Maldives – Dinner Under the “Supervision” of Stingrays
in the Indian Ocean – you won’t find it in Turkey. Of course, almost any beach resort in Turkey has gorgeous beaches with fine (sometimes even snow-white) sand. But, firstly, these are closed beaches belonging to hotels, and very expensive hotels at that. Secondly, this sand is usually imported, and the further it extends from the water’s edge is the steeper and more “star-studded” the hotel.
Are there any public sandy beaches in Turkey?
Yes, and there are quite a few of them. Not the Maldives, of course, but the best beaches in Turkey are much more affordable, and this should not be discounted. Let's take a quick look at some of the most popular Turkish sandy beaches located on the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts.
Patara beach
The beaches of the town of Patara are famous for their soft, light sand, as well as the presence of quite good tidal waves, which is very favorable for surfing. The total length of the sandy beaches of Patara is about 18 km. The town itself has not yet had time to fall under the onslaught of the hypertrophied Turkish tourist infrastructure, due to its location in a protected area. So Patara is not as crowded as, say, Antalya or Alanya, which is good news. You can get there from both the international the airportBooking and buying airline tickets online: the only way to get there is on foot…
Dalaman (110 km), as well as by car from Antalya (about 200 km) or Fethiye (70 km).
Iztuzu Beach in Dalyan
Dalyan is a relatively small town located just a few kilometers from Dalaman. The main attraction of Dalyan is, of course, its legendary sandy beach Iztuzu, located on an elongated peninsula washed on one side by the Dalyan River and on the other by the Mediterranean Sea. The length of the beach coastline is about five kilometers. By the way, considering the best sandy beaches in Turkey, Iztuzu can safely be put in one of the first places. The fact is that, let's face it, almost all beaches in Turkey have pebbles in one proportion or another. But in Iztuzu there are very few pebbles, and this is proven by sea turtles who have chosen the coastal strip for incubating their eggs. They know a lot about sand, and they will not hatch their offspring in the "cobblestones" ...
Oludeniz beach
Simply an excellent option for lovers of relaxation on sandy beaches. Firstly, the proximity to a large resort town FethiyeA town in a closed bay - Fethiye
(15 km), secondly, developed infrastructure (hotels, restaurants, discos, etc.), thirdly, the Oludeniz beach from the bay has a sandy structure and a gentle slope into the depths. From the sea side, alas, there are pebbles, but they are small and quite pleasant to the touch. There are also beaches at hotels with bulk sand, but this is a completely different story...
Kaputas beach
This interesting beach is located near the resort town of Kas, which is exactly halfway between Antalya and Dalaman. It stands out for its excellent fine sand and picturesque terrain. Kaputas Beach is squeezed between two rock massifs, which protects it from large waves that stir up the water.
Lara resort beach
Lara, which is located just 12 km from the center of the legendary Antalya, is one of the best beach resorts in Turkey. The sandy beach of Lara stretches for as much as 12 kilometers, starting from the beautiful Duden waterfall and further to the east. By the way, Lara beach cannot be called purely sandy, there are also pebble areas and pieces with imported sand. But in general - the further to the east, the less pebbles there are in the sand.
Avsallar
This small village is located 24 km from Alanya and is famous for its sandy beach. Almost all tourists who have vacationed in Avsallar note the amazing cleanliness both on the beach itself and on the quiet streets of the city, which, alas, is rare in our times.
Beaches in the village of Incekum
When considering beach resorts in Turkey, it would be a sin not to mention the village of Incekum. Why? Elementary! Incekum is translated from Turkish as "fine sand", and this says a lot! The beach is about eight kilometers long. The village itself is located 23 km from Alanya and has a fairly developed tourist infrastructure.
Cleopatra Beach in Alanya
This 2-kilometer-long beach is famous all over the world primarily due to its history. According to legend, it was given to Queen Cleopatra by her notorious admirer Mark Antony. They also say that this excellent golden sand was specially brought from Egypt. It is difficult to say whether this is true or not, but the sand on Cleopatra Beach is truly wonderful! Moreover, it is not only located on the shore, but also “goes” quite far into the sea.
