Every tourist on holiday in Turkey loves only 3 things: warm sun, clear sea and of course delicious food. And this is not surprising, because shops and hotels in Turkey offer a wide range of different delicacies that you definitely want to try. From our article you will learn what dishes are offered by hotel restaurants, what delicacies you should not eat and what you can and should put on your plate.
Everything you didn't eat today will meet you tomorrow!
After you've finished your breakfast, lunch or dinner at a restaurant, don't be sad about the fact that there are mountains of food left on the buffet that haven't been eaten yet. Don't worry, they won't go to waste! No hotel, even the most expensive one, can afford to throw away kilograms of quality food. Everything is recycled. How? It's very simple!
The cold meats, sausages, eggs and salami that were offered to you for breakfast will meet you at lunch. A salad will be prepared from these products. And of course, new ingredients will be added and all this will be seasoned with mayonnaise or vegetable oil. Pasta or rice may be served with the salad. But even in this case, there is no guarantee that they are freshly prepared and not waiting for you from yesterday's dinner.
The meat that was served for lunch may be offered again. Only with sauce added to it.
Cream soup is a great budget option. The cook will finely grind the meat products that were not eaten from the previous feast, add water, milk, greens and voila! The new cream soup is ready!
Not everything can be smooth with desserts either. To make them look freshly prepared, they are simply topped with new cream, canned berries or fruit jelly. Uneaten fruit is also recycled. It can be used in fruit salads or to make new desserts.
For those who are very impressionable, we will clarify that the scraps that were on the plates of visitors are used to feed animals or are simply disposed of in garbage bins.
What's in our drinks?
Things are more complicated with drinks, it is difficult to use them again, but you can still save on them. And it is done almost professionally.
Tea and coffee may be served in cheap varieties. To avoid this trick, it is better to order Turkish coffee, tea bags or loose leaf tea.
Everyone probably knows how to save on cold drinks. More ice, less cola or other liquid and that's it! The glass is full! But if you expect the ice to be made from bottled water, we have some disappointment for you. Most often, they use regular tap water.
With alcoholic drinks it is even simpler than with cold ones. After you drink 3-4 glasses of whiskey, for example, your taste buds are already weakened and you hardly feel the difference between the real whiskey you had at the beginning and its cheapest analogue. How not to fall for this trick? Very simple – don’t get carried away with alcohol.
We recommend ordering only freshly squeezed juices. They are more beneficial and taste better than powdered juices from packs. This applies primarily to children.
We summarize
If you don't want to fall for such tricks, put on your plate:
- fresh vegetables and fruits;
- leafy salads;
- dried fruits;
- honey and nuts;
- local yogurt;
- baklava;
- scrambled eggs with additives.
You can also eat meat products, but it is better to choose those that are in one piece and without sauces.
Be careful with foods such as:
- minced meat (cutlets, kebabs)
- soups;
- salads with mayonnaise (usually they contain yesterday's leftovers);
- seafood.
If your hotel has a restaurant that serves visitors a la carte, it is better to go there. Yes, the portions will be smaller, but the quality will be much better. Have a good rest and bon appetit!
