Sabiha Gokcen International Airport is the second air gate of Istanbul. The airport was named after Mustafa Ataturk's adopted daughter Sabiha Gokcen, known in Turkey and around the world primarily not as the daughter of the legendary president, but as an ace pilot and the first female military pilot in the country's history. The airport was built due to Ataturk's enormous workload, which did not have time to service the mass of domestic and international flights.
