Minister of Culture and Tourism Nüman Kurtmulmuş announced that Turkey will host the joint annual meeting of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and UNESCO next year.
Numan Kurtmulmuş said: “An important achievement of the meeting for us is that the joint annual meeting of the World Tourism Organization and UNESCO will be held in Turkey in 2018. Turkey will be at very important international promotional events next year. The event will not only be about inviting the ministers of these countries, but also about showing Turkey’s own tourism capabilities and cultural wealth. The meeting will be a unique opportunity for us in terms of introducing diversity to the world.”
The minister said the meeting was planned to be held in the Stambul, but it is not yet fully defined.
Turkey recently took part in a conference where statements on the protection of Jerusalem are being considered. Kurtulmuş emphasized that it is very important to hold a final declaration of Jerusalem. Turkey is not only an Islamic country, but also a member of the UNESCO World Tourism Organization, so it is important to be sensitive to the preservation of the multi-ethnic, multi-religious composition of Jerusalem.
