From September 1, 2025, a new law came into force in Turkey for all low-cost airlines — passengers will be provided with free water during the flight. The country's transport minister emphasized that each traveler is entitled to at least 200 ml of drinking water, regardless of the duration of the flight, its destination, and even the status of the carrier — including low-cost airlines.
As noted by the department, the initiative is aimed at increasing the level of safety and comfort. After all, doctors remind: during flights, the body quickly loses moisture due to dry air in the cabin, which can lead to headaches, fatigue and decreased concentration. Providing passengers with water is considered an element of health care and dehydration prevention.
Until now, the situation was different: for a bottle of water on board some airlines, you had to pay up to three euros. This fact regularly caused dissatisfaction among passengers, especially on low-cost flights, where the cost of additional services often exceeds expectations.
Now, free water will become a mandatory standard for all carriers. Experts believe that the decision will improve the image of Turkish airlines and help harmonize the level of service with international practices. Turkey, which is actively developing the tourism industry, is taking another step towards caring for the comfort of guests and its own citizens, raising the bar for service quality in aviation.
