As it became known, a museum dedicated to the glorious history of this region, which spans more than two thousand years, will be opened in the castle of Julius Caesar, located in the ancient city of Zela (Tokat province, Turkey).
The town of Zela in Tokat is primarily famous for the fact that, according to Plutarch, it was here that the Roman Emperor Julius Caesar uttered his legendary phrase Veni, vidi, vici ("I came, I saw, I conquered") after defeating the army of Pharnaces, son of Mithridates, in 47 BC.
Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Mr. Haluk Dursun noted in a conversation with journalists that museum opening in the city of Zela is one of the priority projects for the near future. He said that in addition to the museum's exhibition of ancient artifacts and works of art by ancient masters, it is quite possible that the ancient roman theatre, located near Caesar's Castle.
