In the village of Koycegiz in the province of Mugla, a forest fire caused by strong winds destroyed almost 3 hectares of pine forest in 10 hours.
The epicenter of the natural disaster was the forest area between the Dousbelen and Sultaniye neighborhoods of the Koycegiz settlement. The fire started on August 4 in the afternoon, and three hours later the fire area was completely under the control of ground services.
Despite the prompt actions of firefighters, the fire completely destroyed a section of pine forest and adjacent territories with an area of 10 hectares. A special investigation is being conducted to determine the causes of the fire.
Two firefighting aircraft and five helicopters from the Mugla Regional Forestry Directorate, 2 fire brigades and 5 forestry workers took part in extinguishing the fire.
Third forest fire in a month
The day before, a triple fire broke out in the forests of Akdag, near Milas. In the middle of last month, forests burned near the village of Aktash. Several fires were recorded on July 14 in the Kyrdjaiz quarter. The firefighting lasted 4 hours, and a large area of pine forest was damaged.
