Turkish Airlines signed an agreement with the Turkish Services Export Association (TSEA), which will help it reach $5 billion in medical tourism revenue by 2023. Following the signing of the agreement on August 18, the airline will work with all companies within the association.
Ahmet Bolat stated that with this decision, Turkish Airlines will facilitate simplified travel procedures for foreign tourists arriving to Turkey for the purpose of medical tourism.
Export revenue is growing every year. The medical sector needs help achieving its export service sales goals.
In the first half of 2022, revenue increased by 70 percent, reaching $34 billion in annualized terms.
Thanks to the new cooperation agreement, 2023 million patients are expected to use the air carrier's services in 1,5, with total revenue from service exports expected to reach $5 billion.
Since the early 2000s, medical tourism spending has accounted for no more than 1% of the budget. In 2022, this percentage increased to 4.5%. Today, Turkish Airlines has a fleet of 390 aircraft and 66 employees.
