Representatives of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) have released information regarding statistics on booking foreign tours for the upcoming May holidays. As expected, the Turkish destination turned out to be one of the most popular among Russian tourists.
The largest number of bookings are for Turkey and Egypt. Also, a considerable number of Russians decided to vacation during the May holidays in Thailand, Tunisia, Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Of the European countries, the most popular tours are to Spain, the Czech Republic, France and Italy.
Among the resorts of Turkey, the cities of the Mediterranean coast (Antalya, Alanya, Kemer, Belek, Side, etc.) are unrivaled, the weather conditions and water temperature of which at this time of year are much more comfortable than in the Aegean or Black Sea.
Meanwhile, ATOR representatives noted that they expected somewhat greater demand for trips abroad. But they remain optimistic and expect that Russians will catch up with last year's figures closer to the end of April. The crisis in Russian-Ukrainian relations and the fall of the ruble against the US dollar are named as the main reasons for the decline in tour booking statistics for the May holidays.
