Recently, the media has increasingly begun to talk about impressive discounts on accommodation in Turkish hotels, saying that in this way the Turkish side is further tempting Russian tourists, who are already actively buying up tour packages.
Recently, Neshet Kochkar, representing Anex Tour, reported on probable discounts of 40-50%. However, not everything in this situation is so rosy. Deputy head of Natalie Tours Gennady Kosarev claims that this phenomenon has a right to exist, but hotels do not take such steps on a large scale. Moreover, the specialist is convinced that only those hotels that barely avoided bankruptcy last year are providing such discounts.
"These discounts are not aimed only at the Russian tourist flow. In the same Antalya, for example, the occupancy rate of hotels in 2016 barely exceeded 50%, so significant discounts in this case can justify their hopes. In general, such extreme measures will be taken by hotels that showed low occupancy rates or were forced to close until better times. Other hotels, such as Sherwood or Rixos, will not even consider such options, because they have survived the crisis with dignity without huge discounts and now they will certainly do without them," said a representative of Natalie Tours.
In addition, Gennady Kosarev noted that in 2016 Turkey was opened for only 2 months and last winter no one had the opportunity to plan their vacation in the republic in advance, unlike the current season. Now there are high rates of early booking and, according to the expert, if nothing happens, about 3 million Russians will visit Turkey.
