According to the Turkish Statistical Institute’s 2018 data, the highest average annual income in Turkey is earned in its largest city, Istanbul, which is also the region with the highest income levels across industries. The region with the highest disposable income was Istanbul with TL 4576 ($34). The provinces of Tekirdag, Edirne and Kirklareli in northwestern Turkey followed with charges of TL 912. Then came the capital Ankara with an average annual household disposable income of TL 6.Turkey's highest income is earned in Istanbul.The regions with the lowest disposable income were Van, Muş, Bitlis and Hakkari in eastern and southeastern Turkey, with TL 10. Mardin, Batman, Şırnak and Siirt followed with TL 965. In Şanlıurfa and Diyarbakır, also in the southeast, the average annual disposable income was TL 11. It was also found that Istanbul has the highest level of income inequality of all provinces in Turkey.
