Another forest fire has occurred in Turkey in the immediate vicinity of a popular resort area. This time, a pine forest caught fire near Kemer (Antalya province), one of Turkey's most popular resort towns.
The forest fire was recorded at around 17:00 on August 13. By the time fire crews from Kemer and Antalya arrived at the scene, the flames, thanks to dry, hot weather and a decent wind, had already covered several hectares.
In order to quickly localize the fire, it was decided to involve specialized aircraft in the firefighting - one seaplane and three fire helicopters. The joint efforts of fire brigades and local residents managed to extinguish the forest fire, but about 5 hectares of pine forest completely burned out.
According to Turkish media, 4 people were injured in the firefighting – these are local residents who took an active part in fighting the fire. According to preliminary information, they have no burns, but only relatively minor poisoning from combustion products (smoke).
The causes of the forest fire have not yet been precisely determined, but most likely it was caused by local residents, who traditionally practice burning dry grass in their crop fields.
