It has been revealed that a hotel in Istanbul's Levent district, owned by Azerbaijani businessman and head of the Palmali group of companies, Mubariz Mansimov, has been sold to his compatriot.
The HSBC headquarters building in Levent was purchased by Mansimov in 2003. Since 2010, the Edition Hotel has been operating there, but it is now set to change hands.
According to Para magazine, the hotel was quietly sold 15 days ago. The new owner is Russian of Azerbaijani origin, head of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov.
The sale wasn't limited to the hotel alone. The package also included the Palmarina yacht marina in Yalıkavak (Mugla Province, near Bodrum). Vagit Alekperov reportedly made the purchase jointly with the Azerbaijani state-owned company Socar, but the ownership ratio is unknown.
Earlier, Mansimov mentioned that he was planning to invite famous world celebrities to the hotel. restaurants and clubs like Cipriani and Billionaire. But Cipriani, one of the most luxurious restaurant chains in the world, was soon forced to leave Turkey due to its too high pricesAfter this, various rumors circulated about the Edition Hotel. Behind the scenes, it was rumored that Mansimov was attempting to establish contacts with other luxury hotel chains. Ultimately, the hotel was sold to Vagit Alekperov.
