One of the world's largest zoos, located in southeastern Turkey, has become the scene of a non-human competition for visitors' affection. A recent addition has attracted more attention than the old-timers of the animal town.
Until recently, the "throne" of popularity was occupied by a chimpanzee named Chan. But as soon as the lion cub Cesur (Brave) appeared on the horizon, the main attention of the zoo guests shifted to the wild cat. Chan was found abandoned in a car and soon they found a place that could become his home. Still, the Gaziantep Zoo, given its size and diversity of inhabitants, best creates wild nature conditions for newcomers.
The chimpanzee joined his fellows a year ago. About the same amount of time had passed since his birth - the zoo staff are sure that the mother abandoned the baby shortly after the birth. For 12 months, the workers looked after Chan as a human child and during this time the lion cub became a real mascot and symbol of the zoo. The media also did not ignore the orphan, constantly posting photos of the little animal in various publications and publications.
The Gaziantep Zoo is the 4th largest in the world. It is quite obvious why Turkish news outlets so often pay attention to events within the zoo, especially when it comes to the first "personalities" of the territory for our smaller brothers. In fact, the chimpanzee Chan was initially promoted in exactly this way as a symbol of the zoo. His photos were even placed on various billboards in the city and suburbs, but two-month-old Cesur is now in the spotlight and has quickly become a favorite of the public.
Of course, there are many contenders for the title of maskot living within the walls (or rather cages) of the zoo, but love is given only to those who are good-looking or have a special story that will surely hook a potential visitor. Tsesur meets the first criterion, and Chan - the second. The leaders of the guests' attention have repeatedly crossed paths, exchanging stern glances, as befits competitors. Recently, the lion cub has begun to seriously shake the chimpanzee's throne and the degree of the struggle is heating up. There is a result from such stories - according to forecasts from zoo representatives, the number of guests this year will exceed 3 million.
