Yesterday, Monday, June 30, at about 13:15 p.m., a major fire broke out on the roof of the five-star Dedeman Hotel, located in the business center of Ankara. A column of smoke rising hundreds of meters caused temporary panic on the streets of the Turkish capital.
The fire brigades that arrived managed to localize and then completely extinguish the fire rather quickly. According to preliminary data, the fire in Turkey was caused by bitumen that flared up on the roof of one of the hotel's auxiliary buildings.
Construction work is currently underway in the Dedeman Hotel buildings. It is not yet known what exactly caused the bitumen fire, but the Turkish police have already launched an investigation into the matter. According to preliminary information, none of the construction workers who were on the hotel roof at the time of the fire were injured. Moreover, as reported by Turkish media, the workers, along with firefighters, took an active part in fighting the fire.
