The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued travel advisories for Turkish citizens traveling to African countries, including personal safety measures when visiting Somalia, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Yemen.
According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, terrorist attacks have increased in the Horn of Africa region in recent years. This is due to armed struggles waged by local tribal clans for the division of spheres of influence. In this regard, all Turkish citizens who are in Kenya or planning to travel to this country should be especially vigilant for their personal safety. It is strongly recommended not to travel around the country unless absolutely necessary. You should avoid visiting the mainland and the coast, which border Somalia, South Sudan and Ethiopia.
Recommendations for visitors to Yemen
In another written statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in connection with the escalation of the military conflict in Yemen, tourists who are in the country or are just planning a trip are advised not to visit the outskirts of cities, criminal areas and combat zones for personal safety. Under any circumstances, it is necessary to be vigilant and not to approach groups of local people if their intentions are not clear at first glance.
