Antalya Mayor Menderes Türel said protecting the sea was the region's top priority.
Speaking at a meeting of the international SKAL association in Turkey, Antalya Mayor Menderes Türel said: "Tourism in Antalya means the sea. If the sea is not clean, there will be no tourism. Our primary task as a metropolis is to protect the sea in all areas."
Menderes Türel, who attended the meeting of the international tourism NGO SKAL in Turkey, delivered a speech in the Environment and Tourism section.
Tyurel, who admitted that the sustainable development of the region tourism plays a primary role, said the following: "It is impossible to talk about long-term plans for the development of the region without environmental protection. If you do not take proper care of the environment and do not take into account modern standards of cleanliness, you may face the risk of losing in the tourism business market. Our main task is to protect the sea in all areas of the region"" said Tyurel.
