According to statistics provided by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as of the end of August 2014, there are 3 officially registered hotels and hostels in Turkey, with a total of 068 beds. Almost 800% of the newly created “beds” are in five-star hotels.
The new tourist facilities that have appeared in Turkey over the past year are mostly represented by 3, 4 and 5 star hotels. As of the end of August, 35% of the increase in all bed places was in 5 star hotels, 53% in 3 and 4 star hotels, 20% in boutique hotels and mini-hotels, which are steadily gaining popularity.
According to the results of a study by the AKTOB (Mediterranean Association of Hoteliers and Tourism Professionals), 65% of the increase in certified beds was provided by 5-star hotels, while 3- and 4-star hotels accounted for only 25% of new tourist facilities.
