Housing, transportation, and tourism are among the key service sectors in the Turkish economy. These sectors experience the largest number of virus attacks, which are virtually impossible to prevent. After analyzing the latest data provided by Statica, researchers identified three sectors that suffer from constant bot attacks: tourism (71% of attacks), retail (32%), and the automotive industry (23%).
What's so bad about a computer virus or spyware? Firstly, they don't adhere to the website's functionality and run multiple processes simultaneously, resulting in a constant, active presence in traffic. Secondly, they can collect user data from clients, which poses a threat to Turkey's cybersecurity.
The technological transformation of everyday life is leading to the emergence of ever-new types of bots. They are present in the media, online shopping, and ticket offices.
The largest number of attacks target travel and accommodation bookings, with hotels and transportation considered the main drivers of the tourism sector. Bots cause significant losses by creating timeouts on pages with empty hotel rooms or empty seats on planes and buses.
