Erdogan kept his promise: air traffic between Turkey and Crimea interrupted

As it became known from the official statement of the Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry for Crimean Affairs Andrei Sokolov, international air traffic between Simferopol and Turkey has been interrupted for reasons that are not subject to disclosure.

Air traffic between Turkey and Crimea has been suspended

Let us recall that on July 19, the flight program of the airline Grozny Avia was launched to carry out flights between the international airport of Simferopol and Istanbul with a technical landing in Anapa for the so-called “refueling”, which, of course, is not necessary for a relatively short flight.

The Simferopol-Istanbul flight was extremely popular among residents of Crimea, and tickets were usually sold out by 90-100%.

Meanwhile, the conclusions about the reasons for the closure of such a popular flight are obvious. The fact is that the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, at a meeting with the elected President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, promised the latter that he would not allow direct flights to Crimea by Turkish airlines.

Of course, Grozny Avia is not a Turkish company at all, and the Simferopol-Anapa-Istanbul flight could hardly be considered as departing from Russia, but it looks like the Turkish leader influenced the decision to close this flight.

Please note that all of the above is nothing more than the opinion of the editors of the portal gursesintour.com, which may differ significantly from the actual state of affairs.
