Mass unrest in Turkey, provoked by the tragic death of miners in the city of Soma, did not affect the number of Russian citizens visiting Turkish resorts. Despite the new round of tragic events that took place in Istanbul and resulted in the death of a second protester on May 23, who was wounded in the head by a rubber bullet, Russians are in no hurry to cancel their planned vacations in Turkey.
ATOR (Association of Tour Operators of Russia) does not note any decrease in demand for the Turkish destination, and even more so, there are no mass cases of cancellation of tour packages.
It should be noted that the threat to the life and health of Russians in Turkey is extremely small. Thus, according to Turkish media, the wave of demonstrations and protests did not affect popular resorts on the coast of the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, which receive the lion's share of Russian tourist traffic.
The safety of Russians in Turkey is indirectly confirmed by the fact that the Russian Foreign Ministry is currently refraining from making recommendations regarding the cancellation of vacations in this country. Let us recall that during the 2013 riots (provoked by the felling of trees in Gezi Park), the Foreign Ministry promptly gave unambiguous recommendations to postpone vacations in Turkey.
