Antalya expects to receive 3.5 million Russians by the New Year

The Turkish tourism sector expects that by the end of this year, the number of Russians visiting Antalya resorts will reach 3.5 million people, Interfax writes, citing the Anadolu news agency.

These forecasts were voiced at a meeting between the Russian Ambassador to Ankara Andrey Karlov and the Governor of the Turkish province of Antalya Muammer Türker on Friday, November 14. During the conversation, the parties touched upon a host of issues concerning the current state of Turkish-Russian bilateral tourism and its development prospects.

Let us recall that according to the report of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, the number of Russians visiting Antalya resorts for the period January-September 2014 increased by 8.6% compared to the statistical indicators of the previous year. Also, Russian tourists in a number of popular resort areas on the coast of the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas (including Antalya) took leading positions in terms of attendance, overtaking the main supplier of tourist traffic to Turkey, Germany, in terms of numbers.
