China has begun the 2020th Five-Year Plan, which will last from this year until XNUMX. During this period, one of the highest ski resorts in China is planned to be built in the main city of the Tibet Autonomous Region, Lhasa.

Tibet is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and glaciers, which gives it an undeniable advantage for the development of alpine skiing. On average, the altitude of the territory is about 4,5 thousand meters above sea level. The site of the proposed construction has very favorable natural conditions for winter sports, because at least five mountains of Tibet are more than 8 thousand meters high. About 70 mountains rise to 7 thousand meters, and more than a thousand mountains reach 6 thousand meters in height.Ski resort center to be built in Tibet soonNyima Tsering, who was born and raised on the eastern side of the Tibetan region, in Chamdo district, and is the head of the Tibetan Mountaineering School, believes that the ski resort project is very important. He has been an active mountaineer for 15 years and, having successfully climbed Everest three times, has devoted much effort to popularizing the region as a center of Himalayan mountaineering culture and as a paradise for skiing.

Mr. Nyima noted that, in principle, winter sports are quite new and not very popular for the Republic of China, however, after the completion of the construction of the resort in Tibet, skiers should finally appear who will worthily represent the People's Republic during the Winter Olympic Games in 2022.Ski resort center to be built in Tibet soonThe Tibetan Sports Bureau and Heilongjiang Province have already signed an agreement aimed at supporting and training young sports talents. Today we can already say that the project has a future, since four skiers representing the Tibetan region have completed a three-month initial training course and have good results.

The future ski resort will make Tibet a centre for Himalayan mountaineering and a must-see destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
