Türkbükü (or Göltürkbükü/Гэлтürkбуку) is a small bay located about an hour from Bodrum city center that is favored by elite travelers from both Istanbul and abroad. Here you will find some of Bodrum’s best hotels, restaurants, and beach clubs, catering to a sophisticated audience with high-budget tastes. Where is the best place to stay?
Hotel Maçakızı
Ideally located in the lush bougainvillea groves of the bay with stunning views, Maçakızı Hotel is one of the most luxurious hotels in Türkbükü. It is a modern yet simple hotel where every detail has a purpose. There is a beautiful private beach, a fine dining restaurant and minimalist, spacious rooms that blend in with the pot-bellied summer bustle of Göltürkbükü.
Boutique Hotel Divan
One of the first openings in Türkbükü, Divan Hotel continues to attract well-heeled travelers with its contemporary design, renowned restaurant and patisserie. Set among palm trees, the hotel’s private beach, rooms with terraces, outdoor pool, spa and tennis courts all offer the ultimate luxury and comfort-focused experience.
Where to eat and drink?
If you’re staying at Divan or Maçakızı, their restaurants are great choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, the menus at Türkbükü’s other restaurants are also worth checking out. Make a reservation at Miam Hotel to sit right by the sea and enjoy excellent seafood meze by candlelight with a cold bottle of Turkish white wine. Right next door, Garo is also a great choice for fresh fish and meze, with a view of the moon shining over the sea. If you come here late at night, you’ll enjoy a healthy Turkish snack.
Where to swim?
During the day, all of Türkbükü’s restaurants and bars transform into beach clubs, with lounge chairs on little jetties over the water where you can eat and drink all day. Of course, some beach clubs are better than others, especially if you really want to experience the luxury life. Even if you’re not a guest at Maçakızı, you can take advantage of the gorgeous private beach for a fee, including a great lunch and a cocktail when the sun comes up. Another great option is the No.81 Hotel, which also has a lovely beach during the day, shaded by large white umbrellas overlooking the turquoise sea.
Things to do:
- Admire the crescent moon rising from behind the mountains across the bay.
- Visit the nearby and charming village of Gundogan.
- Head to Yalikavak for exciting shopping, vibrant sunsets and twinkling windmills.
- Grab your fishing gear and join other fishermen in Golkoy Bay.
- Visit the majestic Castle of St. Peter in the nearby town of Bodrum.
- Explore the surrounding hills to discover hidden flora and fauna.
- Beach clubs are a favorite place if you are a sun worshipper.
What to buy?
Just before and past the small bridge next to the Divan Hotel, you’ll come across a large open-air bazaar selling colorful souvenirs, jewelry, and textiles. However, one of the favorite boutiques of holidaymakers in Türkbükü is İpekçe, which specializes in clothing, jewelry, and home accessories with an ethnic aesthetic. Be sure to try on one of the beach kaftans, a crowd favorite. Istanbul high level.
