A criminal case has been opened in Prokopyevsk against the deputy head of the city for construction and housing issues - he is suspected of receiving a large bribe, the PR service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Kemerovo Region reports. According to the investigation, an entrepreneur approached the official with a request to resolve the issue of converting a residential property into a non-residential one. "Immediately after receiving the money, he was seized by employees of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Kemerovo Region," the statement says. She promised to help the head of a house-building company win an open auction to conclude a municipal contract for the construction of an apartment building.

At the moment, a criminal case has been opened under the article “Receiving a bribe on a large scale.”

In 2009, the suspect, exceeding his official powers, contrary to the terms of the law, acting in the interests of a certain individual, issued an order to conclude a social rental contract for a 3-room apartment in a new building.

The official agreed to assist a typical businessman for 700 thousand rubles. At the request of the investigator, the court temporarily suspended the official from his position. As a result of such actions, the municipal formation Taiginsky urban district suffered damage in the amount of at least 2 million rubles.

This case is not the first in a series of anti-corruption campaigns in Kuzbass initiated by Governor Aman Tuleyev.
