According to TASS, citing an unnamed source in law enforcement, 35-year-old Mukhtar Medzhidov, a former candidate for the Dagestani parliament, died in Solyanka.
It was later revealed that the man killed in the center of the capital was the nephew of the former prime minister of Dagestan. The perpetrators managed to escape, and an "Intercept" plan was declared in the city. According to the latest information available to the publication, he is also the nephew of the former chairman of Dagestan, Mukhtar Medzhidov, who held the post in 2013. They shot their victim at least 10 times and then disappeared in an Infinity. "The victim died at the scene from his wounds," the Investigative Committee reported.
Law enforcement agencies believe that this was most likely a contract killing.
An investigative team is currently working at the scene of the incident. The perpetrators apparently fled in a BMW X6 and an Infiniti.
The wife of the deceased came to the scene.
