Vice Minister of Culture Yevgeny Kochetov commented on the controversy surrounding the camisole from the film "Kyz-Zhibek" that ended up in the possession of Bayan Alaguzova on the sidelines of the Cabinet of Ministers, our website's correspondent reports.
Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Yevgeny Kochetov announced that an investigation is underway following the scandalous story involving the camisole from the film "Kyz-Zhibek."
"The camisole from the film 'Kyz-Zhibek' is a sacred object for Kazakh cinema and the history of Kazakh cinema. We are currently conducting an investigation. My colleagues spoke with the highly respected Meruert Utekesheva, and we have already reached an agreement. She herself expressed the desire that once the entire camisole from 'Kyz-Zhibek' is assembled, it will be donated to the Kazakhfilm museum."
And as I've already said, to prevent similar incidents, we're currently digitizing everything in the Kazakhfilm museum: all the costumes, all the props used in Kazakh cinema. It will be on display, accessible for viewing and tracking." — stated Vice Minister Yevgeny Kochetov.
He added that the camisole was originally in the Kazakhfilm museum among other props.
"We have specific preservation requirements. And I wouldn't say the Ministry of Culture hasn't been concerned. The Ministry of Culture has been preserving a huge amount of props from Kazakhstani cinema for all these years.
"Until now, this is how our museum at Kazakhfilm operated. We'll be revisiting this topic and digitizing certain exhibits. Therefore, I assure you, the situation will be completely different with regard to other props from Kazakh cinema. We have a register of exhibits. We're currently digitizing it," added the vice minister.
Scandal with a camisole from the film "Kyz-Zhibek"
As a reminder, in April, Bayan Alaguzova revealed that she had been given the legendary Qyz Zhibek camisole as a gift and that she intended to treasure it.
The Ministry of Culture later responded to Alaguzova's publication. Alaguzova noted that the camisole had been unclaimed for almost half a century, but after it ended up in her hands, it became a "lump in everyone's throat."
Lawyers and film industry professionals responded to the scandal. Bayan Alaguzova later announced that she would pay the "Kyz Zhibek" actress 1 million tenge monthly.
Meruert Utekesheva, who plays Kyz Zhibek, commented on the much-talked-about camisole story.
Later, Bayan Alaguzova gave the camisole from the film "Kyz Zhibek" to the leading actress, Meruert Utekesheva.
