"As a man and as a human being, I did the right thing." How singer Irakli justified his recent fight

Irakli Pirtskhalava confirmed that he beat Mikhail Grebenshchikov

The court found the singer guilty and fined him for the June incident at the football and music festival. According to Irakli, he smelled "prohibited" drugs on Mikhail Grebenshchikov, made a remark to him, and the latter insulted him on ethnic grounds.

For this Grebenshchikov received a blow to the head, had his injuries documented and wrote a statement.

Here is what Irakli said about this:

"Hello, friends! I see a storm brewing in a teacup. I want to comment. So, this happened just a month and a half ago. And I just stopped an impudent drug addict who was smoking in a public place, who was rude to me when I made a remark to him. Yes, according to the law, I did the wrong thing and was punished. There was a trial today. As a man and as a human being, I believe I did the right thing."

"But I am not justifying myself in any way. This will really be a lesson for me. Please do not nationalize this issue. I am Georgian, but I was born in Moscow. I have a huge number of Russian friends. I always stood for Russia when I was in Georgia. And vice versa," he added.

Mikhail Grebenshchikov was injured at the football and music festival "Art-Football". According to the former participant of "Star Factory", the incident occurred on June 13, when he was standing near the Alfa Hotel.

The 49-year-old singer said that Pirtskhalava hit him on the head. The performer of the track "Dances-Hugging" recorded the beating and contacted the police.
