The appearance and activation of other types of dangerous pests has also been noted in the Altai forests.

Altai forests have been treated for pine moth pests that eat pine needles. "The forest area affected by the pine moth has exceeded 300 hectares."

According to him, if mature trees (over 100 years old) are not cut down, "massive tree mortality" and desertification of the territories will occur. The Altai Territory requires approximately 150 million rubles to combat the pine moth.

This year, forests affected by the pine moth were treated with chemicals against the pest.

According to experts from the Forest Protection and Conservation Department, the technical effectiveness of the work performed is over 97%. In the coming days, a high-alert regime will be declared in some areas of the Altai Krai. The scale of the outbreak is serious, and failure to take appropriate measures to eliminate active outbreaks could lead to the death of forest stands and the further spread of insects in the ribbon pine forests.
