According to scientists, the preconceived notion that some people lack the opportunity to lead a healthy lifestyle and exercise outdoors due to the increased levels of gasoline vapor and other chemicals in the air is simply an excuse, lacking any real evidence. This is the conclusion reached by researchers from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark.
It is well known that regular moderate exercise is important for the normal functioning of the cardiovascular system.
Doctors decided to compare these two factors and find out which is more harmful to health: a lack of physical activity or physical activity in an ecologically unfavorable environment.
Scientists analyzed data on more than 52 people aged 50 to 65. All of them were participants in another large project studying the impact of diet on overall health and cancer risk.
Residents of Copenhagen and Aarhus who participated in the study provided scientists with detailed reports on their physical activity between 1994 and 1997.
Therefore, experts strongly recommend that people exercise even in areas with high levels of air pollution. At the same time, experts also monitored the level of air pollution in the areas where these people lived.
