The first tests of this data transmission method were conducted in Africa. Two laser installations transmitted 20 terabytes of data in 700 days. The distance between them was 5 kilometers. The transmission speed was 20 Gbit/s.
The development was undertaken by engineers at Alphabet, the parent company of Google. The equipment is installed at the same height as the signal receiver to ensure both devices are synchronized and operate consistently without any issues.
Research into innovative data transmission methods makes it possible to receive information without the use of a wired cable. And, mind you, a cable of 400 kilometers is required for such a distance.
