Armenia, Iran, Georgia, and Russian Networks signed a memorandum on energy

Hovik Abrahamyan highly appreciated the general meeting of the Ministries of Energy of Armenia, Georgia, Iran and the Russian Federation in Yerevan and the signed memorandum, aimed at developing regional energy cooperation and implementing joint programs.

“We, if possible, based on the geopolitical location of our country, must make maximum use of Iran’s existing resources,” he said.

As a reminder, Kakha Kaladze previously called for the creation of a common energy grid in the region. Georgia is also increasingly actively participating in major international projects. Hovik Abrahamyan emphasized that, following the visit of Iranian First Deputy President Eshaq Jahangiri to Armenia, joint programs are being actively discussed, including the construction of a third high-voltage transmission line. "This will also ensure the synchronous and parallel operation of the electric power systems of these countries," Zakharyan stated.

The countries' employees signed memorandum on assistance in the energy sector.

The project will also create the preconditions for attracting investment and creating conditions for sustainable partnership cooperation.

"The logical extension of this project presupposes the existence of a similar relationship with Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, which is especially important for our country, as well as for our neighbors and Europe," he added.

Memorandum and also will to promote the development of trade and transit of electric energy, and the development of the corresponding system and intersystem infrastructure in the South Caucasus.

Georgia plans to cooperate more closely with Iran in the energy sector.
